DescriptionIf the Buddha Dated...or Married Relationships as Spiritual Journey...and wonderful challenge
Relationships can be comforting, safe, expansive and rewarding. They can also result in feeling worried, anxious, and afraid of being true to oneself. The more our fears keep us defended and uneasy, the less closeness and safety we experience. Likewise, as we learn to drop back, listen, feel empathy and compassion along with clearly and simply stating our needs, feelings and desires we start to feel the milk and honey of a loving secure bond with another. While this sounds easy, the critics, saboteurs and nay-sayers that dance in our heads often leave us feeling confused and scared to say what's true. Loving relationships evolve as we dismantle the interpretations, perceptions and expectations that block us from seeing others as they truly are. This helps relieve defensiveness and reactivity and see through the eyes of a lover, into the heart of another.
Come explore how dating, forming and maintaining intimate relationships involve: 1) The ability to form a healthy "us" place --to create intimacy and be invested in the relationship while maintaining one's own identity. 2) Becoming aware of your lens -- the interpretations, perceptions and expectations that cloud your vision. 3) A commitment to maintaining one's integrity: "More than anything I want myself -- my integrity, my life -- no bargains, no conning, no lies." 4) Exploring your motivation both conscious and unconscious -- do you have a hidden agenda? what are you truly looking for in a relationship? 5) Beginners mind, sometime known as an unconditional relationship with reality. Are you willing to see yourself and others.
This workshop will be fun, active, deep and will shore up people's confidence.
